Advocate for Females in STEM / Manufacturing

WOMEN WHO MAKE: Inspiring Stories of Women Who Found Fulfilling STEM Careers in Manufacturing Making Things with Meaning

In my book, WOMEN WHO MAKE, I write about revolutionary women who found vibrant, fulfilling careers in the STEM manufacturing industry.

But women are under-represented in STEM and manufacturing jobs because of the outdated misconceptions and stereotypes about what it’s like to work in the industry.

Leaders in manufacturing are doing a good job of trying to get the word out about how good a career in manufacturing can be.

Yet, it’s not enough.

I know this because:

  1. the misconceptions about the industry persist after decades of trying to change them.

  2. even though female and male business leaders promote the industry, many of their employees do not.

We need to do more to multiply our voices!

Women in the industry must band even more strongly together to spread the word to other young women about a career in STEM/manufacturing: it’s a solid path to economic empowerment.

For a young woman who likes working with advanced technologies and things technical, enjoys math, geometry, and making things with her hands, a career in manufacturing can be a very fulfilling one, indeed.

Join me to help spread the word and be an advocate for females in STEM/manufacturing.
